Elgi eyes second slot in global air compressor market

Coimbatore : With a goal to be the second biggest player in the global air compressor market by 2027, city-based Elgi Equipments is displaying a new product at the expo to be held in April next in Hanover in Germany, a top company official said.
The firm stood number two in the country and number seven globally, Elgi Managing Director, Jairam Varadaraj told reporters here.
The company had 12 installations of the new product.
Made in India products had not made any major impact at the global level, he said, adding that Elgi’s technology breakthroughs would transform the conventional boundaries of compressor technology with a relentless focus on increasing performance and energy efficiency.
With the number one company with $5 billion and the next at $1.38 billion, it was a hard task to bridge the gap and reach to the aspiring spot, he said.
Earlier, the company welcomed over 200 employees, students and industry representatives to the 1st edition of Technology Day 2018 and unveiled the company’s ‘State of The Future Art’– a signature initiative focused on fostering innovation.
