Police blamed for not taking action against ganja peddlers

Coimbatore : A group of residents in Vadavalli in the city Monday blamed police for not taking action against ganja peddlers, who had attacked two persons who objected them for selling in public.

In a petition submitted to the District Collector, P Rajaani, the residents said that Selvakumar and Veera had taken objection to three teengers selling ganja and other drugs, targeting students in Vadavalli area.

The three, aged below 20 years, called their three other collegues and attacked Veera and Selvakumar with iron piece and wooden logs, necessitating hospialisation of the duo on March two, they said.

Despite lodging complaint with Vadavalli police station, the department has not taken any action against the ganja peddlers, they said and sought the intervention of Collector.
