Coimbatore District Home Guards Area Commander takes charge

Balaji Raju, Managing Director of AES Technologies took charge as the Area Commander of Coimbatore District Home guards, which is an auxiliary to the Tamil Nadu Police Department.

Vidyashree Dharmaraj took charge as the Deputy Area Commander of Coimbatore District, incharge of the women’s wing.

A total 15,000 Home Guards personnel engage in duties assisting the Police Department across Tamil Nadu. The Home Guards personnel are mostly volunteers from different walks of life including teachers; employees from government and private organisations.

The Coimbatore Home Guards comprises of 387 uniformed personnel and have been assisting the police in traffic duties, bandobust duties, temple bandobust, VIP bandobust.

“The Home Guards of Coimbatore District will play an active role in the smooth functioning of the elections in anvil. We will be assisting the police department”, said Balaji Raju.

Coimbatore District Home Guards comprises of three units – Mettupalayam, Thudiyalur and Pollachi. These officers are detailed at the time of festivities, night patrolling duties, and also also during natural disasters.
