Security measures for Sulur by-poll reviewed

Coimbatore : DGP (Elections) Ashutosh Shukla today reviewed the security measures at the Sulur assembly constituency, which goes to poll on May 19.

IG (Elections) Seshasayee, West Zone I G, K Periaiah, DIG Coimbatore Range, Karthikeyan, Coimbatore SP Sujitkumar were among the senior officials who participated in the review meeting.

For ensuring free and fair elections and providing adequate security to Sulur’s 324 polling booths, including 32 sensitive ones, a little over 4,100 personnel drawn from police and paramilitary forces would be deployed, Shukla told reporters.

Stating that 50 persons were identified as trouble creators during the polls, he said that nine each flying squads and static surveillance teams were formed to monitor the polls, particularly the distribution of money to the voters,

He also requested the public to go and vote fearlessly and register their complaint of malpractices like of distribution of money at the number 1950.
