CRI Group Ladies Circle launch rainwater harvesting in schools

Coimbatore : Out to replenish rainwater, CRI Group here Saturday tied up with Ladies Circle India to implement rainwater harvesting in 50 government schools across the country.
An MoU was signed by group vice-chairman G Soundararajan, Ladies Circle India president NidhiGupta and convenor Poonam Bafna.
Soundarajan told mediapersons that rainwater harvesting from roofs in schools was a simple low cost method where water is captured from the roof, filtered through an exclusive rain tap unit and then through a pipeline reaches the underground sump.
This water was fresh and safe for drinking, he added.
Ladies Circle has identified 50 government schools across the country and tap roof rainwater, Gupta said.
The unit had very simple design and did not need any maintenance, as by opening the flush valve of the filter it clears all the dirt and the wire mesh allows filtration up to 130 microns, she said.
CRI has implemented a unique nationwide drinking water programme ‘Amrita’ in association with its authorised distributors across the country and so far 100 needy rural Government schools have been benefited. It proposes to expand the programme.
