Protests have resumed at the Avinashilingam University soon after its reopening on November 23. Although the fight against the management’s efforts to convert the university into a self-financed institution seems to have lost steam, students are now accusing the University of conducting the examinations without completing the portions.

The issue surrounding the appointment of chancellor came to an end with the appointment of P.R. Krishnakumar, the Managing Director of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy to the post, with effect from Monday.

This time, the students staged a sit-in protest questioning the timing of the examinations without completing the portions. “We have been away for a long time now and how can we attend the examinations without being taught the portions,” one of the students exclaimed.

The students further made a startling revelation that the teachers themselves write down the answers on the blackboards in order to help the students. “How can we learn new things when the teachers themselves are involved in malpractices,” another student questioned.

They said that they will continue their protest until the management postpones the examinations to a later scheduled date in order to help them prepare well.

However, Premavathy Vijayan, the Vice Chancellor in-charge of the University, said that the students were given ample time as the exam dates were announced five days ago. She further added that the staff were instructed to choose questions from the completed portions and assured that no question was out of syllabus.
