Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology (SRIT), the engineering college run by the SNR Sons Charitable Trust here, has been given the ‘A’ Grade, and tops the list of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) with a score of 3.39 out of four.

The CGPA scores are given by the National Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission. The scores are valid for a period of 5 years from November 15 onwards.

The NAAC peer team was headed by Prof. Dr. M.P. Poonia, Director of National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh. The team had inspected the institute for three days, and interacted with the employees, students and alumni of the college, before giving the scores.

At its 66th meeting held on November 15, the standing committee of the NAAC executive committee published the results for the 61 institutions all over the country. Of them, only 10 had received the A-grade. A-grades are given only to those colleges that had scored more than 3.1 out of four. SRIT topped the list with a CGPA of 3.39 on a 4 point scale. 45 colleges received the B-grade, and six colleges, the C-grade.
