Exercise caution,tea officials told

Udhagamandalam. The responsibility of senior officials in the tea sector,in preventing the spread of the Corona virus,was stressed at a Community Vigil Programme organised here on Thursday.

Covid Monitoring Officer for the Nilgiris,Ms.Supriya Sahu who was in the Chair,pointed out that since work compulsions entailed extensive tours by senior officials of the tea sector,they should ensure that they exercise utmost caution .Their physical status vis a vis the virus,should be constantly monitored.If infections are suspected,they should voluntarily isolate themselves,not only in their interest but also in that of others.
Workers should be subjected to temperature tests every morning and they should make hourly use of sanitizers,a habit.

The Nilgiris Collector Ms.J.Innocent Divya said that efforts to check the spread of the virus,have been stepped up and so far over 34,000 tests have been carried out.The number of positive cases till Wednesday was 735.
581 have been cured.

Focus was on areas cordoned off to prevent fresh infections.

Among those who participated was the Superintendent of Police Dr.V.Sasi Mohan,the Managing Director,Tantea Mr.Srinivas R Reddy and the Chairman,Indcoserve Mr. Sivakumar.
