The PSG Institute of Advanced Studies (PSG IAS) would be hosting the 2^nd International Conference in Advances in Functional, Smart and Innovative Textiles (AFSIT – 2015) from December 10 – 12.

According to a release, the conference in aimed at focusing on the advancements and prospects of functional, smart and innovative textiles.

Experts from academia and industries from countries such as Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom would be participating in the event.  Topics, including recent advances in technical textiles, nanotechnology based functional textiles, smart textiles and wearable technology, chemical processing and textile machineries, are to be discussed.

While professors from Georgia Tech, USA, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Australia, National University of Singapore, Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, University of Madras, Malaviya National institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, and Uttar Pradesh Textile Tech, would be participating, students from these institutes including Mumbai Institute of Chemical Tech., Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, and Vellore Institute of Technology, would also be participating in the conference.

According to one of the organizers, the conference would provide an opportunity to textile students and industrialists from Coimbatore to listen and share with globally renowned experts and also to connect with researchers and funding agencies.
