Auto ambulance service flagged off in Nilgiris

Udhagamandalam: Showing the way for rest of the state,six auto ambulances were put on the road in Coonoor on Saturday. Facilitated by a social activist Ms.Radhika Shastry of Coonoor,the ambulance service was set in motion by the Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Mr.K.Ramachandran.

Speaking on the occasion,he pointed out that the cost of each custom made auto was about rupees 3.5 lakh.

Equipped with oxygen cylinders, stretchers etc the vehicles would be pressed into service in areas which were difficult to access by other ambulances.The six auto ambulances will be maintained by the Primary Health Centre in Ketti,Pushpa hospital in Coonoor,KMF hospital in Kotagiri,Kinder Trust,Coonoor,Three Star Service Organisation and the Nilgiris Hoteliers Association.The project has been assisted by various organisations.

Mr.Ramachandran added that there was a downward trend in the Nilgiris,as far as fresh Covid-19 infections were concerned. However people should continue to keep up their guard and faithfully adhere to Covid norms.

Under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin,everything possible was being done to help Covid patients.

Among those present was the Nilgiris Collector Ms.J.Innocent Divya.
