To make Mettupalayam free from Dengue and Chikungunya

The Rotary Club of Mettupalayam Municipality, Home Guards and various educational institutions have jointly organized Nilavembu decoction programme prevent Dengue and Chikungunia on Friday at Mettupalayam Bus Terminus.

Inaugurating the campaign, O.K. Chinnaraj M.L.A said that, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalithaa had strengthened the rescue and relief operations in Chennai and the neighbouring districts including Thiruvallur, Cuddalore and Kanchipuram.

She had called for starting awareness campaigns in other districts also to avert rain-related diseases like Dengue and Chikungunya.

D. Sathishkumar, Chairman of Mettupalayam Municipality, said “People are not taking the responsibility to clean the surrounding but are constantly complaining against the Municipality”.

He exhorted people to contribute in cleaning the city and to drink the Nilavembu decoction in order to stay healthy.

Students from various colleges also participated in the event.

All the 33 wards in the municipality are to be covered by the campaign for the next three days.
