“A basic degree in medicine will help a physician handle various medical branches; hence every medical degree should be respected as the other,” said Dean of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Dr. A. Edwin Joe, here on Wednesday.

Addressing a gathering at the Physicians’ Day celebrations at the CMCH here, Dr. Edwin Joe said that even though physicians were considered superior in a medical college set up, even the neurologists who were called the sub specialists held an important position.

He further added that there should be no discrimination in a medical college despite the positions.

A panel discussion on the management of hypertension also took place in the day during which factors affecting people who had hypertension and preventive measures for hypertension were discussed.

The event was jointly organized by CMCH and the Coimbatore Chapter of the Association of Physicians of India (API).
