The focus of this year’s World Heart Day celebrations was on creating healthy heart environments. Like they say prevention is better than cure, creating such environments works for cardio related diseases and disorders too.

English medicines have become one of the most popular choices to, if not cure, at least treat diseases. However, there is a growing population now that strongly believes in combining English or Allopathic medicines prescribed by doctors with an active life style, healthy food habits and routine to keep lifestyle diseases at bay.

While some do this on their own, according to their requirements, there are a few who do it with professional guidance. The Science and Art of Living (SAAOL), established in 1995, is one such centre that offers a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation and reversal programme.

“Our mission is to change the complete lifestyle and reduce the risk of heart disease through diet modification, stress management, exercise, yoga, meditation, education, and counselling. Our primary goal is to foster independence, enabling individuals to self-monitor their activities and to take primary responsibility for healthier lifestyle behaviours and risk factor reduction,” K. B. Jagadeesh, one of the administrators of SAAOL, Coimbatore, says.

We are also told that the programme at SAAOL is a widely accepted treatment programme for reversing heart disease – where in addition to the allopathic medicines patients are taught yoga, meditation, zero oil cooking, stress management, exercises and medical knowledge. This health clinic that has a presence across the country is the brain child of Dr. Bimal Chhajer who is regarded as one of the pioneers in non-invasive cardiology in India.

Recently, Dr. Bimal introduced two more non-invasive treatments in his centre. These are called PAN Bypass (in short form Natural Bypass) and Biochemical Angioplasty.

According to the centre, both are very effective non-invasive procedures that are time tested, cost-effective and without any side effects. Both can be practiced along with the SAAOL Heart Programme to treatment coronary heart disease completely.
