Little drops to bring a large smile

When eight-year-old Chitra spotted the drop box in her apartment on Race Course, the intention to contribute was spontaneous.
Not only Chitra, but many others, who are willing and eager to contribute to their needy brethren during this Christmas / New Year season, have opportunities galore, thanks to the initiative of The Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore West.
“In order to encourage the public to be charitable while shopping, we have placed drop boxes at shopping centres across the city. There are boxes at Nilgiris Supermarket, Kannan Departmental Store, and Pazhamudhir Nilayam, in addition to the ones placed at Raheja Apartments, TVH Apartments and others in Coimbatore,” Ramya Ramesh, Secretary, Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore West, says.
And, the unique aspect about these drop boxes are that public can also drop dry food items such as rice, dal, sugar and other groceries.
“We have also initiated our Food Drive project. The dry ration collected in the drop boxes will be distributed to St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged, and Sree Anbalayam Orphanage,” Sankari Raju, Chair Person, Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore West, says.
People can contribute till January 2, 2016. The members of the Club will segregate the items and distribute it to the two organisations.
