Youth killed in road accident

In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old youth died on the spot when the two-wheeler he was pillion-riding on was hit by a speeding luxury car at the Pollachi-Anaimalai Road here on Saturday.
According to sources, S. Sampathukumar from Anaimalai was riding pillion with his friend M. Pulipandi (20) near Karupparayan temple at the Anaimalai-Pollachi Main Road when a luxury car that was coming from the opposite direction hit the duo. Sampathukumar sustained heavy injuries on his head and died on the spot. Pulipandi has been admitted to a private hospital with serious injuries.
A case has been registered with the Anaimalai sub division police against the driver of the car, A. Raja (40) from Erode, and an investigation has been launched.
