The sports wing of Rajasthani Sangh Coimbatore will organise Rajasthani Olympics 2016 for its members in January and February. This is the first such sports meet that the organisation is hosting.

“The idea of organising the Rajasthani Olympics 2016 is to bring together members of the Rajasthani Sangh Coimbatore. We have organised several sports competitions and we encourage each and every member of the family to participate. The Rajasthani Olympics 2016 is a big event where we are expecting a participation of 2,000 members in the various competitions,” Magawraj Bafna, Chairman, Sports Committee, Rajasthani Sangh Coimbatore, says.

There are various track, field, team and board events that are open to members for participation. Nearly 25 events will be organised.

“Competitions are open to all age groups. We have special events like cricket and kho kho for the women. We also have 1,500 metre marathon for all age groups,” Magawraj says.

To encourage participation from its members, the organisers have planned to host the competitions on Sundays only.

Registrations for competitions will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Venue for registration is Rajasthani Sangh Coimbatore. The events are scheduled to take place on January 24 and 26 and the closing ceremony of Rajasthani Olympics 2016 will take place February 7. Competitions will be organized in multiple venues across the city.
