A 16-year-old unwed girl gave birth to a female baby at a private hospital in Coimbatore today. The girl had been hiding her pregnancy under the cover of obesity.

The teen, a Class X student from Podanur, complained of stomach pain last night and her parents rushed her to a nearby private hospital. The doctors who treated her were surprised when they found out that she was pregnant and was about to go into labour. They informed her parents, who initially refused to believe the doctors.

The pregnant girl delivered a female baby around seven AM today.

Since she was a minor, the hospital authorities informed the police, who began inquiring into the case. The girl confessed that she was in love with an autorickshaw driver, and has been physically intimate with him for the past two years. Police are now searching for the autorickshaw driver.
