Elephant found dead under mysterious circumstances

A wild elephant, about 15 years old, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a village near Mettupalayam today.
Villagers of Karumbanoor found the carcass early today and informed the forest department. Officials immediately rushed to the spot. Both the tusks of the dead elephant were intact and there were no signs of external injuries.
Crowds had started thronging to see the dead elephant and rope barricades were put up around it in order to prevent tampering. Police and the forest officials have said that the cause of the death will be known only after the post mortem.
