The police today arrested a car driver and seized electronic gadgets and cell phones worth over Rs.4 lakhs from him, which were stolen from parked cars all over the city.

Radhakrishnan, from Mettur in Salem, was working as temporary car driver with various travel agencies. He was stopped by the police during a routine vehicle check near Classic Towers at the bus stand in the city.

The police became suspicious over his behaviour and searched his car. The search yielded five cell phones, a laptop and two Apple Ipads. On interrogation, Radhakrishnan confessed that he used to steal these articles from the parked cars and send them to his relatives back in Mettur.

He would break open the windows of cars parked at crowded places, like hospitals and bus stands. He confessed to have committed seven such crimes in the last one year.

Police found more stolen articles when they searched his relatives houses, including cash Rs.1.4 lakhs, two laptops, four cell phones, and an iPad, all worth more than Rs.4 lakhs.
