Puthiya Tamizhakam (PT) today sought transfer of the case of the suicide of three girl students in a private Siddha College in Kallakurichi in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu, to the CBI.

“A CBI inquiry only will reveal the fact about the incident, whether it was a suicide, murder or whether they were forced to commit suicide,” PT President and MLA, K. Krishnasamy, told reporters here.

Stating that lack of basic amenities in the six-year old college was said to be the reason for this mass suicide by girls, Krishnasamy alleged that it was a pity that even a single student had not passed out with a diploma or degree from the college.

Krishnasamy also wanted the Government to set up an inquiry panel, headed by a sitting judge of the Madras High Court to look into the infrastructural facilities in all nursing colleges, and agricultural colleges approved by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.

The University had given nod to start five agricultural colleges in the State and an inquiry into these colleges would reveal the alleged irregularities involved in approving them, Krishnasamy said.
