A woman and her paramour were arrested today for murdering her husband, whose body was found partially eaten by stray dogs in Singanallur area recently.

The police initially suspected that 47-year-old Pugalendi, a painter, was mauled to death by stray dogs in a bush while he was under influence of liquor. But the post mortem report indicated that it was a case of murder because his throat was slit.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Pugalendi’s wife, Maheshwari, a construction worker. During interrogation, she confessed to have committed the murder with the help of her paramour, Prasad, also a construction worker from Kerala. They decided to kill him when he came to know about their affair and warned them.

Maheshwari and Prasad got Pugalendi completely drunk, took him to a deserted place and slit his throat. Both of them have been remanded to custody.
