State-level science education congress at KPRIET

“Studying science with better understanding will lead to good career opportunities. It has to be learnt using practical experiments,” Dr. T.V. Venkareswaran, Principal Scientist, Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi, said here.

Inaugurating a State-level science education congress at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET), he emphasised the need for a practical-oriented syllabus for school students.

As part of the congress, several competitions like project exhibition, drawing, quiz, chess and spell bee were organised for school students from Standards VI to XII. More than 1,500 students from various schools from across the State participated in this science education congress.

“To improve the technology infrastructure of the nation, the process has to start from school itself. Students with good understanding of science can become a successful engineer, who will in turn contribute to the growth of the nation,” Dr. K. Bommanna Raja, Principal, KPRIET said.

V. Velmurugan, Additional Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Coimbatore, spoke on the importance of training the mind and body equally for better living.

Visitors were entertained with various events like origami, puppet show, magic show, math’s corner and planet watching.
