Tamil National Movement founder-leader P. Nedumaran today warned of “serious agitations” if the Centre attempted to impose Sanskrit in CBSE schools as part of a three-language formula, which is being recommended by a high level committee.

“The imposition of Hindi had seen violent agitations in Tamil Nadu some years ago and if the Government attempted to impose Sanskrit in the State, the implications will be very serious,” Nedumaran warned at a press conference here.

The violence leashed out by BJP lawyers and workers on the Supreme Court premises against the JNU leader Kanhaiya Kumar has displayed the real fascist face of that party and the Central Government, he alleged.

“When there is a Court, judiciary, why should the ruling party take law into its hand. The attack, particularly on the premises of Supreme Court is undemocratic,” he said.

When pointed out that Kanhaiya was allegedly raising anti-national slogans, Nedumaran said that he was already arrested and rest was in the hands of police and Courts.

Stating that the farmers of Western Region of Tamil Nadu were suffering without water for the last 50 years and late Chief Minister Kamaraj had announced the Avanashi-Athikadavu Ground Water Recharge scheme considering the plight, he said that the Government should immediately find a solution to the ongoing hunger strike by ordering implementation of the scheme by announcing a specific date.

Even political parties who support the agitation and scheme should mention a specific date in their manifesto, since through this project the State could also get an additional 500 KV of power, he said.

Nedumaran also asked the State government to find a solution through dialogue for the ongoing indefinite strike by the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association, as more and more associations were showing their support and joining the strike.
