With the Central government all set to announce the Railway budget on Thursday, former MP and Chairman of Coir Board under the Ministry of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MS&ME), C.P.Radhakrishnan assured that a night train between Coimbatore and Bengaluru will be introduced within a year.

Addressing at the felicitation meet held at the Chambers on Wednesday, to appreciate CODISSIA for winning the district level first place for Responsible Indian Business Management Organization (BMO), Radhakrishnan said that the new train is likely to be introduced in the Railway budget this year or the next year.

“The train which has been a long pending demand of the industrialists of Coimbatore is assured by the ministry and will be running within a year,” he said.

He further added that the track doubling between the industrial corridor which is another long pending demand will also be completed soon.

Emphasizing on the importance creating Defence Manufacturing Parks in various places in the country which is being considered by the government in collaboration with foreign countries, Radhakrishnan said that Coimbatore would also be considered for the setting up such parks.

Claiming that the tussle between the centre and the state affects development he said that growth can be achieved only if there is a relationship beyond political and ideological differences.

“The same thing goes with various industrial associations in the city and Coimbatore can grow only if there is a combined effort by all the associations,” he opined.

Appreciating the feat achieved by CODISSIA, Radhakrishnan also advised that industries should not hesitate to seek the support of the central government whenever necessary.
