The BJP today ruled out the possibility of forming an alliance with the DMK or Congress.

According to BJP National Executive Committee Member and former State President L. Ganesan, the BJP was open to talks with DMDK-led by actor-politician Vijayakanth, and PMK headed by Dr. S. Ramadoss, who were partners of the NDA during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Talking to reporters in Chennai, he said that like 2014, it was confident of forming an alliance with DMDK and the PMK.

He also added that if required, it would hold talks with the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for the Assembly polls in May. He said: “If need be, we will initiate talks with them. We will not hesitate to talk to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa too”.

“We will hold talks with parties who want to come under BJP fold,” he asserted.

Union Minister and election in-charge for Tamil Nadu Prakash Javadekar was expected to visit Chennai on Sunday. He would decide the alliance Mr. Ganesan said.

The BJP would start receiving applications from March 4 from candidates who wish to contest the polls. The party would hold meetings in all the 234 Assembly constituencies. The office-bearers of the party would visit every household in the State to seek the
support of the electorate, he added.
