Three persons were detained by the police for possessing nine mm bullets, at the Marina beach in Chennai, last evening.

Police said Dilip (24), a native of Uttar Pradesh, Deetzil (28) and Bykunda (25) from Orissa, who were staying in Perungalathur, had visited the Marina beach on Thursday.

They had approached a tattoo artist on the pavement to get designs done on their body. They bargained with the tattoo artist for payment by selling three nine mm bullets. The bullets were ones mostly used by the police personnel.

The tattoo artist alerted the patrol police who took the trio into custody and seized the bullets. Investigation is on to ascertain how they came in possession of the bullets.
