Bharathiar University gets new Vice Chancellor

Dr. A. Ganapathi took office as the new Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University today. His appointment comes following James Pitchai’s retirement about five months ago.
Post James Pitchai’s retirement in September 2015, a three-member committee constituted by the university was looking after its administration and performing the tasks of the vice chancellor until a replacement was found.
Dr. Ganapthi was the former head of Biotechnology Department of Bharathidasan University. After his retirement in 2012, the University Grants Commission had awarded him the coveted UGC-Emeritus Fellowship to carry out research projects in Bharathidasan University.
