The economic value of products can be increased by safeguarding them by the best practice of patenting inventive ideas,Mysore-based Defense Food Research Laboartory Associate Director, Dr S Nadanasabapathi said.

In his address to the 2-day National workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at Bharathiar University , Nadanasabapathi said that researchers can be the hub of novel findings, but there was an urgent need to get in-depth
knowledge of IPR and patent filing, he said.

Stating that that intellect was the product of brain and creative mind should combine with biology for something novel, he said that workshop would be the best platform for those who excelled in their thoughts and growth of the
country lied on IPR through generation of currency from innovative products.

The workshop is sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research and National Biodiversity Authority, India, in which more than 300 delegates from all over India are participating.

Dr. P.S. Mohan, Dean-Research, Bharathiar University highlighted the current trend and opportunity in the area of research that can offer a great chance of getting closer to Intellectual property rights.

There was the need to create awareness about the patent and technology transfer and many other fields of IPR that can create wonders in the developing word, he added
