“Graduation day is a memorable occasion as it indicated that the graduates are ready to take on their careers. The college has provided you with the knowledge, skills and expertise in your chosen field of study. My humble appeal to you is to put this knowledge into practice as the opportunities in the outside world are tremendous. You must use knowledge and power to facilitate progress,” S.V. Balasubramaniam, Chairman, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, said.
Delivering the convocation address, chief guest R. Seshasayee, Chairman of Infosys Limited, said, “Be the change you want to see in the world. I appeal to you young graduates to make a change at every level from the shop-floor right up to the management. Now is the time for the knowledge revolution and the sun of knowledge has to rise from India for the universe. This can happen only with youth power.”
Vijay Mohan, Chairman of Pricol Industries Limited, Coimbatore, in his special address, said,” It is necessary to imbibe the technological innovations, so that you (graduates) excel in this competitive world. The two main ingredients of success are domain expertise and soft skills.”
He recalled a study by Stanford University on 10,000 successful alumni. Over 85% of them attributed their success to soft skills. India is accelerating on its growth path to become a developed nation. “In our country, where many youth are deprived of proper education due to poverty, engineering students are a fortunate lot. I appeal to you to develop entrepreneurial values and create more jobs in the manufacturing sector to help the downtrodden,” he said.
