Since the chance for price to increase is very remote, the farmers are advised to sell coriander immediately on harvest.

The market prices for the fresh harvested coriander seed ranged between Rs.7,500 to rs.7,750 per quintal in Tamil Nadu and the supply from other states were also increasing, the price was expected to decline further in upcoming
months, an analysis carried out by Agro Marketing Intelligence and Business Promotion Centre in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, said today.

Presently, Tamil Nadu is experiencing the arrivals of fresh coriander seed from major producing districts, which will end by last week of March, it said.

The price analysis for the past 12 years that prevailed in Virudhunagar market in the State revealed that the price may hover around Rs7,500 to Rs.8,100 per quintal and there was little chance for increase further.

In Tamil Nadu, coriander is mainly grown in Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Krishnagiri and Thoothukudi districts and the deficit production of coriander in Tamil Nadu is being compensated by the arrivals from North Indian states.
