Restoration of River Noyyal begins on March 26

Tomorrow, on March 26, the Noyyalai Nokki, an event that marks the start of the restoration process of River Noyyal will be organized at Kooduthurai, near Alandurai, Coimbatore. Social Activist and Padma Bhushan awardee Anna Hazare will be the chief guest.
Four Tamil Nadu-based NGOs have joined hands to revive the River Noyyal. The project, named NORFED (Noyyal River Restoration Federation), brings together NGOs – Coimbatore-based Siruthuli, Tiruppur-based Jeeva Nadhi Noyyal, Erode-based Olirum Erodu, Karur-based Noyyal Kaappom. River Noyyal flows through these four regions.
The organizers of the event have made arrangements for transport for the public from various points in Coimbatore to the venue. Several NGOs, corporate houses, educational institutions will participate in tomorrow’s event and formally take an oath to unite and restore the River Noyyal.
