25-year-old succumbs to cow dung powder

A 25-year-old man, who consumed cow dung after quarrelling with his family members, succumbed here on Saturday.
According to sources, the deceased, R. Mahendran, was working as a coolie on construction sites, and was residing at Shanthi Nagar in Idayarpalayam. He was not married, and also had a drug and alcohol addiction problem. He frequently quarrelled with his parents and there were regular fights with the neighbours too.
Frustrated with the frequent quarrels with his family members, Mahendran reportedly consumed cow dung powder mixed with liquor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. He died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
A case has been registered with the Thudiyalur police and they are investigating.
