PFI protest in front of Coimbatore Prison

Members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and relatives staged a demonstration in front of the Coimbatore Central Jail agitating against the prison officials for not allowing them to take fruits for inmates here on Thursday.

According to T.M. Ibrahim Badusha, Treasurer of the organisation, relatives of inmates in the usually take eatables like fruits and biscuits when they visit the prison, after check by police officials.

However, based on some issues, prison officials have denied giving permission to the relatives to take fruits to the inmates recently.

“Sometimes, they allow and sometimes they do not allow,” said Ibrahim.

Agitated with this, the members staged a demonstration in front of the Coimbatore Central Prison and raised slogans against the prison officials for not allowing them to take fruits inside.

They were later pacified by police who arrived at the scene.
