In a much anticipated move, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by M. Karunanidhi, has invited the newly formed ‘Makkal Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (MDMDK) to join its alliance.
MK Stalin, the DMK treasurer, said that they would welcome the newly formed MDMDK if they meet Karunanidhi and joined the alliance. Rumors speculate that the DMK is ready to give the MDMDK five seats for the state elections. It will be a while before confirmed numbers are released.
The Makkal DMDK, consisting of rebel MLAs and party functionaries, who walked out of the DMDK following the latter’s decision to join the PWF, had said that they are willing to talk with the DMK if invited. The most recent member of the DMDK to walk out of the party was the district secretary of Chennai city.
The leaders unanimously said that Premalatha had imposed her decision on Vijayakanth, to join the PWF.
