Angered by Khushboo’s remark that transgenders do not have the qualifications to contest the elections, members of the third gender community have filed a case against the Congress spokesperson.

In the petition filed by Barathi Kannamma, it was stated that Kushboo had remarked recently that the members of the transgender community are not qualified to contest elections. Claiming that the remarks made by the actress-turned-politician had offended their community, the petitioner has requested the court to take action against her.

The Madurai District Court has adjourned the case to April 25.

Barathi Kannamma, who had contested from Madurai in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, said that she had tried to lodge a complaint with the police, but no action was taken against Khushboo, who is known for her outspokenness and her controversial comments.
