Police are on the look out for a couple, along with their grown-up daughter, for reportedly sending out their Dalit daughter-in-law.

23-year-old Revathy, working in a private firm, fell in love with colleague Rajiv, and got married to him last year. Both were living in Rajiv’s house near Mettupalayam, along with his parents and sister. Rajiv got another job and was scheduled to leave for Jaipur
along with his wife.

But, the in-laws – Palanichamy and Malathy, and their daughter, Vidya, came to know about her caste background, and allegedly abused her and called her by her caste name, before asking her to move out of the house.

As Revathy was not able to communicate with Rajiv, she filed a complaint with the Thudiyalur Police Station, following which the in-laws were asked to come to the station to discuss the issue today. But, they did not turn up, and were out of reach.

Following this, a case has been registered against the father, mother, and daughter, under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the IPC.
