Nearly 400 dogs to compete in kennel show

About 400 dogs of all shapes and sizes, from the world’s smallest, the Chihuahua, to the tallest, the Great Dane, will be displayed at the First Open All Breed International Dog Show, to be held in Coimbatore on June 5.

35 to 40 breeds from India and foreign countries will be participating in the one day kennel show organised by the newly-formed Anamalai Kennel Club, its president Dr. V.S. Ravi told reporters in Coimbatore today.

Also on display will be Toy Miniature Pinscher, Chinese pugs, American Akita, Bullmastiff, Doberman Pinscher, Giant Saint Bernard, Rottweller and some exotic breeds like Whipper, Afghan Hound, and Beagle, he said. 15 police dogs will also be part of the show.

The show will be inaugurated by Kennel Club of India Chairman, S. Pathy. C.V. Sudarsan from Chennai, and Yashodhara Hemchandra and Preetham from Bengaluru will be the judges at the show.
