Leopard enters human habitat, kills calf

A leopard strayed into the human habitat and killed a calf in Valparai yesterday triggering panic among the residents.

According to police, a few estate workers noticed the animal dragging a calf in Padupadi in Karumalai area.

Later the carcass was found in a nearby estate. They also claimed that the leopard was last spotted in a thick bushy area in Co-op Colony in the town. A complaint has been lodged with the forest department officials who are on the field to capture it.
