The City Corporation today woke up to the public outcry on dengue that has claimed two deaths so far in the city.

Even after the deaths were reported, health department authorities maintained it was due to renal failure and other illness. Over a dozen people were admitted to private hospital following high temperature suspected to be dengue as the officials claimed that these were not reported to the department.

However, following criticism over the negligence, the corporation deputed contingency workers to clean the areas from where dengue cases were reported.
Officials visited every house in areas coming under Kovaipudur and advised the residents not to keep store water open where mosquitoes breed.

Workers were directed to remove the garbage and heap of leaves on either side of the roads.Residents complained to the officials about the over flowing garbage bins that have not been cleared for several days now. The entire Kovaipudur area was fumigated.
