Woman throws baby in sump, hangs self

A 28-year-old woman committed suicide after throwing her three-month-old baby in a sump.
Thangaveni of Rathinapuri suddenly threw her baby in the sump yesterday evening. Hearing the noise, her husband Lakshmanan rushed and rescued the baby and admitted it in a private hospital.
When he returned home he found his wife hanging from the ceiling. Following a complaint from Lakshmanan, police have registered a case.
Thangaveni, it is learnt, was in a mentally disturbed state for the last few days.
