In a bid to eradicate poverty and empower children, the Coimbatore chapter of Shanti Ashram would launch the Children-led Reversing Child Poverty Action Plan.

According to a press release from the NGO, the goal of the plan was to unite children and youth to work together to eradicate poverty and to seek people’s involvement in every way to achieve the same.

Around 31 institutions and 31,200 children and youth are expected to participate in the fourth phase of the plan, that has been in vogue in Coimbatore since 2013.

Under the plan, priority would be given to rights to education, health, food and protection. Scholarship would be provided to deserving SSLC toppers, the release said and added that 500 girls would undergo health check up and screened for anemia.

“We have plans to expand our food bank and bring nutritional literacy among 10,000 children. The tribal children of Anaikatti would be given vaccination for typhoid along with Vitamin A supplements,” the release added.
