The Madras High Court today has asked the CBI to investigate the suicide of the woman police officer Vishnu Priya. The case was being handled by the CB-CID.

27-year-old Vishnu Priya was the D.S.P of Namakkal district. She was investigating the Gokulraj murder case, among others. She was found hanging at her home on September 18, 2015. The investigations were initially conducted by the state police, and was later transferred to the CB-CID following orders from the state government.

The case, requesting transfer of investigations from the CB-CID to the CBI, was filed by Vishnu Priya’s father, Ravi. A division bench of the Madras High Court, comprising Justices Huluvadi G. Ramesh and M.V. Muralidharan, transferred the case from CB-CID to CBI.

The judges have given the CBI three months to complete the investigations.
