Ooty: With the intention of putting her town on the literary festival map, Ooty-based Yash Muthanna came up with the idea of starting the Ooty Literary Festival (OLF). She began by forming a team that includes trustees, a convener, advisor, and committee members.

The official website of OLF says that the team took about a year’s time to plan the debut edition of OLF, scheduled to be hosted on September 16 and 17, this year. Venue for OLF is the Nilgiri District Library.

The website also points out that the library in the Nilgiri district is one of the oldest in the country. The library, inaugurated in 1859, is housed in a Victorian building with Gothic-style architecture, in the heart of the town.

Dr, Sheela Nambiar, Jerry Pinto, Karthika V.K., Dr. C.S. Lakshmi, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, Dr. Kavery Nambisan, Sajal Jose, Shoba Viswanath, Vijay Nambisan, and Mansoor Hussain among other writers, are expected to participate in OLF.
