Residents of Masinakudi and members of some Hindu outfits today took out a procession in protest against the demolition of a temple and removal of the deities from their tribal area by officials. They also submitted a memorandum to the District Collector in this regard.
It is learnt that on June 21, revenue and police officials removed the idol of Karuparayaswami and demolished the temple (on the land that belonged to the revenue department) frequented by the tribals of the Theppakkadu area.
The temple was located near the power generation unit at Paikara.
