The defending champion Ricky Donison reasserted his domination in the Senior Max Category by winning the third round of the 13th JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotex Mac Karting Championship held here.

The Bengaluru-lad is currently leading the points table, and keeping to the form, and was confident to win the National Championship two years in a row. There are two more races to go at Kolhapur and the grand finale at Hyderabad.

Donison, of BPC Racing, who started at the third place in the grid for the finals, had to stave off a stiff challenge from Nayan Chatterjee (Meco Racing), Dhuv Mohite (Mohite’s Racing), and Vishnu Prasad (Meco Racing) in a closely contested race.

The victory has taken Donison’s championship tally to 252, a slender five points ahead of the second-place Vishnuprasad, who came second today and nine ahead of Dhruv. Akash Gowda was placed third in the race.

The reigning champion will also be taking part for the first time in JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2016 for JK FB02 and LGB F4- Round 1 National Champ 4W KMs, which are scheduled to be held in Coimbatore from July 29 to 31.

When asked about the expectations, he said, “Nothing is guaranteed in racing and every time I go into the track, I hope to complete the race to the best of my abilities.”

Currently overall second in the Asian Championship and with two more rounds to go, Donison says that he is confident of catching up with the leader. Since he is completing 18 years, Donison intends to participate in the US Formula 2000, scheduled to be held in March 2017, and become the first Indian to do so.
