A student was severely beaten up as a punishment for laughing at a school in Cuddalore.

Sridhar, a class ten student of a school in Bhoothangudi near Sethiathope, was admitted to the government hospital in Cuddalore after he was assaulted in the school for two hours.

Sridhar was reprimanded by a teacher for laughing in class and reportedly asked him to leave the classroom.

The teacher also complained to Sujin, son of the school correspondent, who took Sridhar to another room and assaulted him.

He reportedly kicked him and whipped his legs with an iron chain.

It didn’t stop there as Sridhar was dragged back into the classroom where he was hit hard on the head by other students on Sujin’s orders.

A relative of Sridhar said, “The incident happened on Thursday evening and he fell ill. As his body was shivering, we admitted him in Chidambaram government hospital and then he was referred to Cuddalore government hospital.”

Police have registered a case and ordered a probe.
