In the first of its kind performance by the Indian Air Force in Coimbatore, one of the bands of the Air Force will be staging a musical concert on the eve of the 70th Independence Day Celebrations here.
Briefing media persons here in Coimbatore on Wednesday, N.S. Vaidya, Air Commodore and Commanding Officer of the Air Force Administrative College in Coimbatore, said that the band will engage the audience in various genre of music including Symphonies, Overtures, Concertos, Fusions, and classical.
“The main aim of the concert is to bring awareness among the general public about the various armed forces of the country, and the talents of the people in the forces,” he added.
Informing that the team of the 35 members was the best among the eight bands of the Indian Air Force, Vaidya also added that arranging a bigger concert was not possible due to lack of time.
Replying to a question on why women were not part of the band, Vaidya said that the suggestion will be considered in the future.
The band will be performing at the Brookefields Mall on Sunday, 6.00 pm, and is open to all.
