The competition, jointly organized by PSG Institute of Advanced Studies (PSGIAS) and PSG-STEP in partnership with Colleges of Nanoscale Sciences and Engineering, SUNY Polytechnic, USA, is an attempt to inculcate interest among students about the various aspects of nanotechnology and its importance in future. Students from all over the country would participate in the competition.

While the winner would be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50,000 would be given as second prize and Rs. 25,000 for third position. Twenty people would also be given a consolation prize of Rs. 2,500 cash.

According to a press release from the PSG Institute of Advanced Studies, the cash prize would encourage the students to come up with innovative ideas in the field of nanotechnology.

“PSG Nanochallenge-2016 competition is also to create awareness about the emerging opportunities available with the Nano technology which can be converted into feasible products,” the release read.

The competition would also help create an atmosphere for entrepreneurship in nanotechnology domain thus supporting Indian Government towards self-reliance in new technologies and ‘make in India’ approach, it added.
