A 14-year old boy committed suicide by consuming cow dung powder at his home, reportedly upset over his teachers abusing him.

According to police, Babu, an ninth standard student of Government school in Venkitapuram, who was monitoring the class had written the names of three classmates for creating trouble in the absence of the teacher, who later scolded them a few days ago. In order to take revenge on Babu, the three told the teacher that Babu was spreading rumours linking his name with a female teacher in the school.

The teacher, along with two other teachers scolded Babu in strongest words, they said.

Upset over the incident, Babu consumed cow dung powder last night. His parents noticed him lying unconscious in the kitchen this morning and rushed him to the Government Hospital here, where he was declared brought dead.

Babu’s parents and relatives staged a protest in front of the post mortem room demanding action against the teachers. They also claimed that they had lodged complaint with the head master of the school, but had been taken.
