All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) today sought a high level inquiry into the affairs of Isha Foundation, following several allegations against its functioning.

“Since many allegations are being levelled against the Foundation and Isha Yoga Centre, the Government should order inquiry into the functioning of the organisation, so that truth comes out,” AIDWA Tamil Nadu State general secretary Vasuki told reporters here.

“Many people, including a retired professor, have lodged complaints about the Centre for allegedly brainwashing and forcing the inmates to stay there in the premises. Also the Government should take action to demolish illegal structure constructed by the foundation on encroached land of forest department, as ordered some three years ago,” she said.

The Government should also take stringent action against those officials who failed to execute the demolition orders, Vasuki said.

As far as encroachment on Noyyal river, both Isha and Karunya University were equally guilty, Vasuki, who is also a CPI(M) central committee member, said.
